As the Assistant Program Supervisor for our School Age progrqams you will be a part of an amazing team provides enrichment and recreation activities, teach teamwork and social skills, and support children as they grow and learn. You will plan and implement activities and step in as the lead onsite when the Program Supervisor is not present. This position is a regular on going positon that works within our youth enrichment programs throughout the year, in our before and after school programs during the school year and within one of our summer camps during the summer.
If hired, you will receive a $200 signing bonus (less applicable payroll taxes) after 90 days of employment.
Where you’ll work…
You’ll be based out of one of our 13 branches that offers programs ranging from health and wellness, to family programs, to child care, to aquatics (access is a staff benefit - swim a few laps before work, take a yoga class, do some laps on the track before you go home if you like!). The majority of programs are located in Public Schools buildings. Programs use classrooms, child care rooms, gyms and outdoor spaces.
Plans and implements culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum in accordance with the Youth Development goals of the YMCA. May be responsible for the quality and completion of program plans including lesson, behavior and event plans.
Supervises a group of children to ensure their health and safety and to provide for a positive experience for each child.
Supervises child care site staff/volunteers. Maintains required staff/child ratios.
Professionally communicates confidential and evaluative information with parents/guardians including newsletters, individual parent communication and parent/teacher conferences.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
Maintains professional relationships with families, facility personnel and the community. May plan and conduct events for parents.
Assumes responsibility for program operation when DEL designated and qualified staff is not on premises.
May maintain required records according to YMCA and DEL standards, including attendance records, immunization records, registration information, accident reports, discipline records and fire evacuation records.
Assists in recruiting new enrollments.
May ensure that site supplies are maintained and purchased as necessary.
May fill in for Program Supervisor during short-term absences.
Ensures developmentally appropriate classrooms including appearance, décor and cleanliness of site.
May prepare and serve snacks.
Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
Other duties as assigned.
You are 21 years of age or older and should have:
Two years or more ofexperience working with children; camps, child care, tutoring, nanny, etc.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Have completed thirty college credits in approved school-age credits as specified in the Washington state guidelines for determining related degree and approved credits, or twenty college credits and one hundred clock hours of related community training.
Ability to model and demonstrate Y values; caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
Experience planning and implementing group activities.
