YMCA of Greater Seattle Youth Development Staff for School Age programs and Summer Day Camp in Shoreline, Edmonds, Bothell, Woodinville, Bellevue, Redmond, Washington

Please note that these jobs are expected to start in 2021. See the start date expectation for each program below:

For our school year programs: Expected start dates are between February-March.

Summer Day Camp: Expected start dates are between May-June.


Basic responsibilities for entry level roles:

  1. Plans and implements program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA. Coordinates activities which fit the children's developmental needs.

  2. Supervises a group of children to ensure their health and safety, and to provide for a positive experience for each child.

  3. Communicates with and maintains positive relationships with families. May conduct conferences.

  4. Provides day-to-day leadership to volunteers.

  5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.

  6. Maintains ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, cleanliness, and learning environment of site.

  7. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.


Age requirements and qualifications vary by position.

Minimum qualifications of entry level jobs include:

  1. 16 or 18 years of age or older. (depends on position)

  2. Experience in working with children the same age as those to be supervised.

  3. Completion of minimum STARS required training (For Licensed Child Care Positions)

    1. 30 or more college quarter credits in early childhood/child development, or possess an equivalent educational background, or be a certified child development associate preferred (For Licensed Child Care Positions)
  1. One year of experience or more in program planning preferred.

  2. Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices.

  • At hire, or earliest possible training (but no later than 60 days after employment.)
