YMCA of Greater Seattle Wellness Coach in Seattle, Washington
A eneral facility floor attendant who will spend their shift out on the cardio and weight room floors. This role is shift-based with a focus on member engagement, facility and equipment cleanliness, and giving equipment orientations.
works with families promoting healthy nutrition, activity and lifestyles. Acts as a liaison and advocate for YMCA Total Health/Activate America. Understands the "Health Seeker" target market and provides motivational coaching.
Morning shifts are 8-12 and evening shifts are 4-8pm.
Wuld provide Personal Wellness Plans with members, tours and equipment orientations.
Develops positive relationships with participants and facilitates relationships among participants and members. Provides motivational support and guidance.
Increases participant awareness of all healthy lifestyle factors.
Encourages member and parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
Sets up and takes down class equipment. Reports equipment problems.
Attends staff meetings and approved trainings as required.
Ensures safe and effective workouts. Responds to, and reports, accidents and incidents.
Conveys basic information on Y Total Health/Activate America.
Tracks, monitors, evaluates and transitions assigned Total Health participants providing motivational support.
Accurately maintains related records.
May lead Total Health Consultation.
May lead one or more ongoing Y Total Health programs such as Y Personal Fitness, Eight Weeks to Wellness, Get Real etc.
- Experienced: proven ability in exercise class instruction, or personal training Current state approved first aid certification.
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
Twenty-five hours of practical experience as fitness, wellness, or personal trainer/instructor, or equivalent (Additional YMCA certification and/or external professional certification, i.e. .AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, or other).
Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. Ability to set up, move and store class equipment. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
