Job Summary

Provides senior-level accounting expertise and support to the organization. Manages the month-end closing process. Designs and prepares internal financial statements. Assists with key sections of external audits and reporting requirements to outside agencies. Understands and implements GAAP in a variety of business situations. Provides leadership to YMCA branch business staff.


  1. Manages the month-end and year-end financial closing process, including reviewing and approving journal entries, accounts receivable documentation, and several general ledger integrations from external software systems.

  2. Ensures that the general ledger and segment organization structure is kept current in accounting and budgeting financial software systems. Work closely with the Business Intelligence team to ensure financial systems stay aligned.

  3. Ensures timely production and distribution of financial statements. Ensures balancing and accuracy in financial statements.

  4. Prepares and analyzes the monthly financial statements in relationship to budget, forecast, and prior year.

  5. Prepares assigned tax returns and external informational reports ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  6. Reviews and reconciles general ledger accounts as assigned.

  7. Supports the Controller with sections of the annual audit, including external financial statement preparation and select roll-forward schedules.

  8. Prepares assigned sections of the annual 990 federal tax return.

  9. Supervise other accounting staff as assigned.

  10. Support finance team with budget and forecasting process.

  11. Other duties as assigned including Y-USA annual reporting, annual filings with Washington State and bond compliance reporting support.


  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.

  2. Three to five years of experience in accounting or finance.

  3. Demonstrated understanding of GAAP.

  4. Excellent computer skills to include knowledge of Accounting and Financial systems including Microsoft Office products, especially in Excel.

  5. Superior analytical and problem solving skills.

  6. Solid attention to accuracy and detail, strong organizational skills.

  7. Deadline oriented.


  • CPA or CMA preferred.

  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).

  • Language proficiency in addition to English
