YMCA of Greater Seattle Resident Manager II, Transitions in Seattle, Washington
This is a part-time position which ensures safety, cleanliness, and a positive social environment for three to five young adults sharing a residence. Lives in the house, supports the residents in managing household responsibilities, and monitors their activities. Encourages the transition of young adults to more independent housing settings. Teaches independent living skills to program participants and creates skill practice opportunities.
Welcomes new residents, orients them to the expectations of the Shared Home, and handles all move-in/move-out processes and paperwork.
Supports the residents in living independently within the Shared Home structure, following the house expectations, and helps them prepare for future living situations in the community.
Ensures positive relationships with community members and neighbors in close proximity to the Shared Home.
Ensures the cleanliness and attractive appearance of the house and grounds, supporting the residents to complete weekly chores. Performs and assists the residents to perform minor repairs and maintenance.
Works to create a positive peer environment. Facilitates the residents holding regular house meetings to problem solve, share fun activities, and learn from each other. Encourages the young adults to take leadership roles within the home and community.
Oversees health and safety of residents and the house, ensuring all systems are safe and functional. Holds fire and/or emergency drills at least quarterly. Reports maintenance issues to Maintenance Supervisor.
Communicates regularly with the Housing Associate and the Independent Living Specialist for each participant. Shares successful strategies and immediately communicates problems as they arise.
Supports young adults through drop-in sessions and scheduled one-on-one meetings in searching for jobs, applying for schools, finding housing, completing homework, time management, etc.
Maintains clear and professional contact notes on participants and other documentation for files.
Transports self and participant(s) in a safe and effective manner when necessary.
21 years of age or older.
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Two years experience or more in social service, educational, or vocational programs working with teens or young adults.
Skilled in the use of behavior management strategies and techniques such as positive reinforcements and natural consequences.
Experience in networking and community involvement.
Knowledge and skill in basic home care. Strong personal boundaries and ethics.
Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
Ability to transport self and participants(s) in a safe and effective manner, proof of adequate vehicle insurance coverage is required.
