Job Summary

As the Program Supervisor of our Hunger Response programs you will lead and develop our Hunger Response volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and staff. This position will serve on an engaging and dynamic team, playing a key role in ensuring planning and implementation of community centered programs that are provided to the community. You will oversee the planning and implementation of a safe and quality Hunger Response program providing day-to-day support and overall management of the program sites. You will supervise and evaluate the staff and volunteers, including hiring and training, maintaining required health and safety measures and conducting regular staff meetings. You will be an important part of helping maintain professional relationships with families, facility personnel, and the community. This position is a regular on going position that works within our Hunger Response programs throughout the year.

Responsibilities

  1. Ensures planning and implementation of culturally relevant and appropriate activities in accordance with theHunger Response goals of the YMCA.

  2. Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates instructors/volunteers. Is responsible for professional development planning. Conducts staff meetings and organizes trainings. Maintains required staff/child ratios.

  3. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.

  4. Maintains professional relationships with families, facility personnel and the community. May plan and conduct events.

  5. May maintain required records according to YMCA standards.

  6. Recruits new enrollments.

  7. Ensures that site supplies are maintained and purchased as necessary.

  8. May assist with developing and monitoring department budgets.

  9. Ensures appropriate site appearance and cleanliness of site.

  10. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.

  11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

You are 21 years of age or older and should have:

  1. Three years or more of relevant experience. Working with children, families, community programs and/or hunger response programs.

  2. One year or more of supervisory experience.

  3. High school graduate or equivalent.

  4. Ability to model and demonstrate Y values; caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.

  5. Experience planning and implementing group activities.

  6. Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
