Where you'll work...

The Accelerator Y provides services to youth, young adults, and families in their homes and community throughout King County, South Snohomish County, and North Pierce County. This position will be based out of our Accelerator YMCA location in South Seattle at the 2100 Building.

What you’ll be doing…

You will direct and further develop our young adult transitional housing and permanent housing program services. The Supportive Housing Program Director is responsible for ensuring continuity of programs and services while providing oversight and development to transitional and permanent housing program staff. The Supportive Housing Program Director will primarily provide supervision and leadership to the case managers of our housing programs, including volunteers and interns.

  1. Establish new program activities and expand program(s) within the community in accordance with the Association and Branch strategic plans related to family support.

  2. Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise housing case managers and volunteers in assigned areas. Provide development and leadership.

  3. Collaberates with other Porgram Directors to provide support and leadership to the drop in resource center for youth and young adults.

  4. Compile program statistics and provide data and reports as required. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program(s).

  5. Provide leadership and support for branch management team, annual fund raising campaign, and volunteer committees/boards as assigned.

  6. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations, schools and agencies related to family support programs.

  7. Develop, produce and distribute program information necessary to promote programs, in accordance with branch marketing plans.

  8. Ensure that safety procedures are followed and that all programs are in compliance with YMCA, contract, accreditation, and all relevant regulations and other applicable standards.

  9. Ensure high quality programs through innovative program development evaluations and ongoing training of staff.

  10. Ensure upkeep of related facilities and equipment.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.


This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.


  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant program or equivalent education or experience.

  • Two years or more of related experience, with proven experience in training others.

  • One or more years of experience with staff and volunteer supervision, program development, and budget management.

  • Experience with and knowledge of youth behavior management and child abuse prevention.

  • Intermediate computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Ability to visit sites and community organizations.


  • Master’s degree in relevant program or a closely related field from an accredited school.

  • Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
