Job Summary:
This person is responsible for assisting in the management of the logistical systems that support our wilderness-based expeditions. The Logistics Manager works closely with the Operations Supervisor and Course Directors to ensure that instructors and participants are provided with the necessary resources to be successful and comfortable while on trip. Responsibilities include overseeing food, equipment, and transportation for the summer season.
About BOLD & GOLD
The BOLD (Boys Outdoor Leadership Development) & GOLD (Girls Outdoor Leadership Development) Program is dedicated to inspiring courage and confidence in diverse groups of adolescent girls and boys through outdoor adventures. We run single and all gender expeditions and each year we engage over 500 youth in outdoor experiences ranging in length from 4 to 14 days in places like the North Cascades, Mt Rainier, Squamish, Smith Rocks and Olympic National Park. Activities include backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering, kayaking, fishing, yoga, art, music, literature, backcountry cooking, and having fun in nature.
Our goal is to increase confidence, courage, emotional intelligence, wonder, and community awareness in participants. We believe these traits are the foundations of leadership and work to inspire participants to develop their own leadership style. Professional experience working with outdoor equipment, including repair and maintenance

Strong communication skills (both written and verbal and administrative skills, including experience using MS Word and Excel

Anticipated Work Dates:
May 26th, 2021 - September 3rd, 2021
40-50 hours per week – five days on, two off.

Responsibilities
Ensuring safety, quality, and organization of all logistical systems.
Managing the organization, function, and availability of all program equipment, including backpacking, camping, rock climbing and mountaineering technical equipment, clothing, etc.
Planning, purchasing, and organizing field appropriate and culturally appropriate meals.
Manage a team of 4-6 Logistics Coordinators who will aid in the delivery of the summer program.
Collaborating with staff to pack and prepare all field-going food and equipment.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 season managing wilderness trip logistics.
Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.
Current W-EMT, WFR, WFA, or FA and CPR
Current WA State Food Handlers Permit
This position requires driving:
21 years of age or older.
Current Driver’s License with a minimum 3 years safe driving experience and a driving record which meets or exceeds YMCA standards
Maximum one minor violation
No speeding violation of more than 20mph over the limit
