YMCA of Greater Seattle Learning & Development Specialist in Seattle, Washington


The Learning and Development Specialist is a key member of the L&D Team, supporting the development and deployment of learning and development programs for our staff.


  1. Assist with the development of training courses for our key stakeholders – content design, development, coordination and facilitation

  2. Provide on-site event support, including setup and teardown, as needed

  3. Order and maintain supplies, process invoices, and ensure timely payment of vendors.

  4. Manage L&D equipment and training supplies inventory.

  5. Monitor and maintain the L&D email mailbox acting as a primary point of contact for offices and attendees to respond to question regarding program logistics or requirements.

  6. Create and maintain program SharePoint sites.

  7. Set up and manage logistics for webcasts and other virtual trainings.

  8. Manage event planning, setup, execution (i.e., room booking, catering, and signage/materials, managing attendance).

  9. Schedule, register, and track employee training sessions and attendance in learning systems (Brainier, LCDC, and other external platforms).

  10. Maintain content for our Learning Management System (LMS).

  11. Assist in developing training materials.

  12. Calendar management

  13. Build and maintain training schedules, records, and reports

  14. Troubleshoot complex problems within LMS

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.


This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.


  • Associates degree in business administration, education, or other relevant discipline OR an equivalent combination of education and highly relevant experience required.

  • 4 years of administrative and learning facilitation experience

  • Y-USA Training Certification preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a heavily matrixed organization.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Passionate about creating highly-interactive and engaging learning environments.

  • Knowledge of and application of adult learning development methodologies.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including active listening.

  • Highly-engaging presentation skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.
