YMCA of Greater Seattle CCORS On-Call Crisis Responder in Seattle, Washington

Earn some extra money while improving your current crisis prevention skills and increasing your expertise in hospitalization assessments (and diversion) for kids throughout King County!

We are currently hiring On Call Part-Time Crisis Responders for overnight shifts (8pm-8am or 5pm-8am), and Saturday and Sunday (8am-8pm). Minimum commitment is 2 shifts per month, (shifts vary between 12 to 15 hours) and the ability to pick up additional shifts, as needed. This is a community-based, on-call position where staff are not in the office, but participate in personal activities while being available to be called out to homes or hospitals to assess and safety plan with families whose children are experiencing a mental health crisis.

CCORS staff work with youth and families to instill hope and identify strengths in order to connect families with the resources in their community and the resiliency within themselves. Our staff team with other professionals in the hospital and perform home outreaches in pairs to ensure staff safety and maximize the success of family engagement and crisis intervention.

Provides comprehensive, short-term crisis outreach services to children and families in King County with children experiencing a mental health or behavioral emergency. Stabilizes the initial crisis, provides intensive support and links the family to ongoing formal and informal support systems.


  1. Available to respond to after-hours Crisis Clinic referrals and provide an outreach within 2 hours.

  2. Provides immediate, short term, acute crisis intervention services to families in King County to prevent out of home care and psychiatric hospitalization for children and youth.

  3. Provides services in the homes, and other community locations of families served.

  4. Develops and implements Child and Family Safety Plans and makes referrals to community resources that are sensitive to the family’s cultural, social and mental health needs.

  5. Document their interventions, exploring of least restrictive options, and collaboration with Hospital Social Workers, Family Members, Safety Planning and CALOCUS assessment in approved documentation formats within established timelines.

  6. De-escalation and problem solving for/with CCORS Families over the phone and in-person. Coaching parents in the moment of crisis, supporting clients/families in creating of safety plans.

  7. Maintains a working knowledge of current trends and developments in the mental health field through continuing education and reading relevant materials.

  8. Reports all critical incidents and adheres to YMCA program policies and procedures


  1. Masters degree in social work, counseling or related field.

  2. One or more years post-graduate experience in providing short-term mental health services to youth and families from a broad range of cultures and social needs.

  3. Strong knowledge of risk assessments, crisis intervention and de-escalation, wraparound service delivery, parent skills training, safety planning, and case management.

  4. Training and experience in individual, family, and group treatment modalities. Ability to work in a team management approach.

  5. Direct experience and proficiency with computers, basic office software and case management/client tracking software.

  6. Strong organizational skills with an attention to details, time lines and follow-through.

  7. Ability to meet with clients at home and in the community, and to transport clients in a safe and effective manner (Proof of adequate vehicle insurance is required).

  8. Ability to potentially work graveyard, evenings, and weekends.

  9. Registered Associate License in Washington.
