The Seattle Y is looking for a responsible leader who is excited by the prospect of developing and leading one of our youth development programs, as Program Supervisor.

You’ll be based out of one of our 13 branches that offers programs ranging from health and wellness, to family programs, to child care, to aquatics (access is a staff benefit - swim a few laps before work, take a yoga class, do some laps on the track before you go home if you like!).

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing…

This position will serve on an engaging and dynamic team, playing a key role in ensuring planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum are provided to the participants. You will oversee the planning and implementation of a safe and quality program, providing day-to-day support and overall management of the program, maintaining participant records, developing promotional materials, assisting in monitoring program supplies and department budget, and coordinating transportation needs. You will supervise and evaluate the staff and volunteers, including hiring and training, maintaining required staff/child ratios, and conducting regular staff meetings. You will be an important part of helping maintain professional relationships withfamilies, facility/school personnel, and the community.

You have the ability to oversee a group of children to ensure their health and safety needs are met while continuously providing a positive, enriching experience for each participant.You have an eye for quality programming and know how to provide support and a sense of belonging to others in order to generate a program that is successful and enriching for all involved.

Primary Responsibilities:

Oversee after school clubs for High School and Middle School students including

  • Leadership

  • Coding

  • Teen Event Planning

  • Video Gaming

  • Sports & Fitness

  • Outdoor Leadership

Promote and expand volunteerism among community youth

Develop and expand current Middle School programs & offerings

Work in local Middle and High schools to administer environmental and conservation programming

Facilitate leadership and environmental science programming in outdoor venues

Help lead and facilitate weekend wilderness trips

Support a range of summer opportunities for teens

Other duties as assigned

Ability to be mini-bus driver certified

Ability to become CPR certified

Ability to become Wilderness First Responder Certified

Qualifications

You are 21 years of age or older and should have:

  • High school graduate or equivalent. College degree preferred but not required.

  • Two+ years of relevant experience.

  • One year or more of supervisory experience.

  • Strong customer service skills, responding to multiple questions via phone, email and in person.

  • Ability to problem solve and resolve conflict.

  • Strong computer skills and experience working with word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

  • Knowledge of standard office equipment, such as fax machines, copiers and phone systems.
