YMCA of Greater Seattle Day Camp Counselor in Sammamish, Washington


Job Summary

This Day Camp Counselor position is a part of a unique community based program supporting kids grades Kindergarten through 7 th grade in summer camp program in the afternoons at the Highland Gardens community. Campers live on the property where camp begins and end. During the summer program, campers will explore the outdoors, get active playing sports and practice use their creative minds. Come make the summer exceptional for a diverse group of students ready to have some fun!

Camp programing runs from June 7th - August 30th. Must be available to work Monday - Friday 11:30 AM - 4:30 PM


  1. Supervises a group of children to ensure their health, safety and to provide a positive experience for each camper.

  2. Implements program activities. May be asked to assist in planning activities.

  3. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.

  4. Professionally engages with parents/guardians to provide pertinent program information and share about their camper’s experience.

  5. Ensures that equipment is clean, safe, set up and stored properly.

  6. Attends staff meetings and training programs as required.

  7. Other duties as assigned.

You should have:

  1. Prior experience with children; camps, child care, tutoring, nanny, coaching. Six months or more previous experience working with children in a camp setting preferred.

  2. Ability to model and demonstrate Y values; caring, respect, responsibility and honest

  3. Experience planning and implementing group activities
