Where you’ll work…

You’ll work in our welcoming membership facility that offers programs ranging from health and wellness, to family programs, to child care, to aquatics (access is a staff benefit - swim a few laps before work, take a yoga class, do some laps on the track before you go home, if you like!). Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing…

Our Y is looking for outgoing Swim Instructors who enjoy teaching children and adults new skills, helping them achieve goals and preparing them for future success. In this role you will teach children and adults water acclimation and safety, water movement and stamina, and stroke development and mechanics. Each year our Y’s teach thousands of people to swim and enjoy the water as a form of play and life-long exercise.

Who are you?

If you're the right candidate for the job, you are commited, organized and a self- motivator that is excited about swimming and teaching children water safety skills. You should be able to committo a regular schedule for each swim lesson session. Options include Monday and Wednesday evenings, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Friday evenings, or Saturday mornings. Optional (Summer lessons additionally offer Monday through Thursday morning availability.)

Qualifications

You are 16 years of age or older and have:

  • Current state approved first-aid certification*

  • Current state approved community CPR certification, or equivalent*

  • YMCA Swim Leader certification or equivalent*

  • Demonstrated ability to assist children and others in the development of swimming skills

  • Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child

  • Ability to teach skills to others

  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

*We can facilitate the process of you getting certified if you don’t have the required certifications yet. Please still apply if you are interested!
