Performs routine and complex janitorial duties to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.
Cleans and maintains floors, walls, windows, tiled areas, and other surfaces, including stripping polish and waxing floors, and providing carpet care.
Cleans and sanitizes sinks, toilets, showers, restrooms and other assigned areas of building.
Replaces soap, paper towels, light bulbs and other supplies. Empties waste containers.
Performs various duties such as dusting, and maintaining entrances and office areas.
Reports building problems.
Performs light maintenance as assigned.
May maintain inventory of cleaning supplies.
May set up furniture for special events.
May provide day to day instructions for volunteers.
Six months or more of related experience in janitorial work.
Knowledge of cleaning products and equipment.
Basic knowledge of maintenance helpful.
Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
Ability to use equipment and chemicals in prescribed manner, including ability to read labels, MSDS information sheets, and instructions.
Ability to identify and resolve potential safety and security problems.
Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
