YMCA of Greater Seattle Housekeeping Supervisor in Eastsound, Washington


Job Summary

Manages the housekeeping and related maintenance operations for facilities and furnishings for a Seattle YMCA residential camp. Maintains and repairs furnishings and equipment including developing and implementing preventative maintenance plans and related budgets. Supervises staff assigned to housekeeping.


  1. Provides overall coordination and implementation of housekeeping, including planning and developing preventative programs and annual improvement plans for assigned facilities. Provides support to all assigned facilities.

  2. Provides direct supervision for the housekeeping and custodial program for assigned facilities. Hires, trains and evaluates staff. Performs appropriate custodial duties as necessary to maintain overall facility cleanliness.

  3. Drives camp vehicles including school busses.

  4. Advises directors on maintenance and custodial issues and projects as requested.

  5. Trains assigned staff and/or participants to handle routine maintenance and facility needs.

  6. Organizes laundry facilties and processes camp laundry as needed.

  7. Provides support to food services including working shifts in the kitchen, ordering equipment and supplies, and ensures working order of cleaning equipment.

  8. Provides leadership to volunteers, including committees if assigned.

  9. Oversees the work of contracted facility professionals as needed.

  10. Assists in developing the facility budget to support preventative and annual maintenance plans, and monitors expenditures against budget.

  11. Ensures that all vehicles assigned are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Association.

  12. Promptly reports any program-related concerns to the appropriate staff member.

  13. May be required to carry a pager and cell phone 24/7 for maintenance emergencies.

  14. Submits timely reports as required.

  15. Assists with the annual fundraising campaign as assigned.

  16. Updates the housekeeping and furnishing plans periodically.

  17. Other duties as assigned.


  1. Three or more years of experience in facility management or closely related field.

  2. CPR and first aid certifications required.

  3. Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License and operate a school bus.

  4. Familiarity with personal computers.

  5. Proven experience in staff supervision and budget management.

  6. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

  7. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
