YMCA of Greater Seattle Assistant Kitchen Manager in Eastsound, Washington

Overview

Job Summary

Assists the Food Service Director and teammates in all camp food services. Maintains clean working space and adheres to all county and state codes. Chopping, cooking, baking, washing, cleaning, rubbish removal is all required.

GENERAL FUNCTION

Assistant Directors provide leadership across all Orkila and Colman programs. Responsibilities include coaching and supervising staff, managing the day to day operations of kitchen, and assisting in problem solving as unique and challenging situations arise. Previous experience working in kitchens and managing others in a professional setting is required. Assistant Directors are supervised by the Food Services Director and perform other duties as assigned.

  1. Demonstrates knowledge about food safety and follows all food and safety regulations.

  2. Supervises and develops food service staff, and oversees kitchen shifts.

  3. Enforces safety and health regulations and follows emergency procedures as outlined.

  4. Prepares and serves food to guest and staff.

  5. Transports food and supplies as needed.

  6. Ensures proper rotation of food and supplies.

  7. Maintains temperature logs.

  8. Maintains high standards of cleanliness.

  9. Maintains security of kitchen.

  10. Reports the need for any equipment repair to the Food Service Director.

  11. Relates to county health officials, food suppliers, guests and staff in a positive and productive manner.

  12. Attends kitchen staff meetings and trainings

  13. May assist with schedule making and parent phone calls regarding dietary needs

  14. May assist with purchasing and ordering of food and equipment

  15. Other duties as assigned.

  16. Current state approved CPR certification

  17. Current Washington Food Handlers Card.

  18. Current and Valid Drivers License in good standing.

  19. Demonstrates knowledge about food safety.

  20. Two years experience in restaurant or institutional cooking.

  21. Basic kitchen knowledge.
