YMCA of Greater Seattle Adventure Program Staff Overnight Camp in Sammamish, Washington
We are currently hiring Environmental and Outdoor Educational Instructors to work with our Teen Program at the Sammamish Y and at other outdoor locations. We are looking for positive, fun, experienced educators who are excited to help facilitate leadership, communication, outdoor and teamwork skills as well as deliver environmental-science based curriculum.

This On-Call position works with staff on an as needed basis on weekdays and weekends
Typical day 8:00-4:00pm
Compensation: Salary Negotiable based on experience, $75- $120/day. Benefits include, but are not exclusive to professional development opportunities, meeting great people and working in a fun and beautiful environment.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Facilitate environmental science based curriculum, outdoor and leadership skills with school aged youth and their teachers/ chaperones (when applicable)
Ensure both a physically and an emotionally safe environment
Create values-forming experiences for students and others involved
Create an inclusive environment for all involved
Are flexible and adaptable to different teaching environments
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, program and equipment inspection written documentation, and emergencies.
Other duties as assigned.
Critical Success Factors:
Professional instructional experience in facilitation, ropes course, environmental education, climbing wall and other outdoor activities
Commitment to working with diverse groups
Excellent judgment and decision making skills
Strong group facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
Experience facilitating activities addressing issues facing adolescent females and/or males
Experience working with school aged youth and teachers
Knowing about how to have fun!
19 years of age or older.
Current state approved first aid certification.
Current state approved CPR certification.
One or more years of college preferred.
Current Wilderness First Responder strongly preferred. Documented knowledge of challenge courses and current safety standards and practices.
Demonstrate working knowledge of belaying, rappelling, knots, and rescue techniques.
Ability to participate in activities that involve rigorous physical activity in an outdoor setting.
